1. Scope
These terms apply to the online role-playing game Realm of Magic and the website realmofmagic.org (together, "the service"). The provider is Jens Wegener (see the legal notice). By creating a character or using the website you accept these terms.
2. The service
Realm of Magic is a free, non-commercial hobby project. There is no entitlement to use it, to constant availability, or to keeping any particular progress, characters or items. We may change the game, adjust game data, or discontinue the service in whole or in part at any time.
3. Rules of play
The game is governed by the Policy (in the game: policy and help mudiquette), which forms part of these terms. In particular, you must not
- harass or insult other players, or spread discriminatory, extremist or otherwise unlawful content,
- exploit bugs, or deliberately disrupt the game or the website,
- play more than one character at a time, or let characters help one another,
- use automated programs (bots) against the Policy,
- gain unauthorised access to other players' characters or to our systems.
4. Your password
Keep your character's password secret. You are responsible for what is done with your character unless you are not at fault for its misuse.
5. Your content
You are responsible for what you publish in the wiki, on the boards or in the game. Publish only content you have the rights to and that does not break the law.
You grant us a non-exclusive, free and unlimited right to store, publish and edit that content as part of the service. Wiki articles are shared work and may be edited further by other players; they remain even if your character is deleted. We may remove content that breaks these terms at any time.
6. Breaches
If these terms or the Policy are broken, we may warn, restrict, temporarily or permanently ban, or delete characters, and block access from particular addresses.
7. Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health. Otherwise liability is excluded as far as the law permits. We are not liable for the loss of progress, characters or items.
8. Privacy
How we handle your data is described in the privacy policy.
9. Changes
We may change these terms. Significant changes are announced on the website or in the game. Continuing to use the service afterwards means accepting the changed terms.
10. Final provisions
The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies. If any provision is invalid, the remaining provisions are unaffected.
